“Study Again!” More Than 70 Non-Hereditary Inheritors Attended the Training

A training course for representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage (traditional music) was held in Yangzhou from November 24 to 28, 2021.

The training was hosted by Yangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast and Tourism, and undertaken by Conservatory of Music of Yangzhou University and Yangzhou Cultural Center. More than 70 representative inheritors of Yangzhou Guqin Art (Guangling Qin School), Gaoyou Folk songs, Yangzhou Qingqu, Yangzhou Pinghua, Yangzhou Tanci, Yangzhou Opera and more than 10 intangible cultural heritage projects attended the training.

The training course invited provincial and municipal experts in the field of intangible cultural heritage protection and professors from the Conservatory of Music of Yangzhou University, focusing on the theoretical knowledge of Traditional Chinese music, the improvement of performance ability, and the preaching of laws and regulations. In the form of classroom lectures, on-site teaching of excellent communication cases, discussions and exchange performances, the training deeply discussed the tunes and repertoire, historical evolution and musical connotation of Yangzhou traditional music intangible cultural heritage. It helps inheritors broaden their horizons, update their knowledge, and improve their theoretical literacy and innovation ability.

Through the training, the trainees all expressed that they would combine the learning and training with the problems they encountered in the practice of intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance, timely transform them into new ideas and new driving force to promote their work, and effectively improve their integrity and innovation ability. As outstanding inheritors, they will strive to promote the creative transformation and development of intangible cultural heritage protection, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the prosperity of traditional culture such as drama, folk art and folk music.

In recent years, Yangzhou has actively explored and taken multiple measures to give full play to the advantages of institutions of higher learning, research institutions and cultural and exhibition venues in Yangzhou to carry out intangible cultural heritage research, academic exchanges, digital records and other work. It has also supported institutions of higher learning and middle and higher vocational schools in the construction of disciplines and specialties related to intangible cultural heritage as well as the construction of talent teams, promoted the deep integration of production, education and research, and promoted the co-construction and sharing of cultural resources between the city and the university.

Yangzhou has established “Yangzhou Non-genetic Inheritance and Production, Education and Research Base” and practice and training base in colleges and universities, and created a number of “Non-genetic Learning Societies in colleges and universities” with profound cultural heritage and local characteristics and characteristics of the times, and established a relatively perfect curriculum system of intangible cultural heritage. The Conservatory of Music of Yangzhou University and Yangzhou Cultural Center (Yangzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center) have established a strategic cooperative partnership in the field of intangible cultural heritage protection, which plays an important role in deepening the cooperation between universities and local governments in the field of intangible cultural heritage protection and promoting the creative transformation and development of intangible cultural heritage protection.
