In order to further cultivate and improve the professional quality of college students and enhance the quality of piano teaching, on the afternoon of October 11, the Music College invited the famous pianist Ratimir Martinovic to hold the lecture and piano masterclasses in the lecture hall of Lifu Library. This lecture is named “When the Millennium Kotor integrates with the Millennium Yangzhou”, it is also one of the series of lectures of the International Academic Forum on Piano Teaching of the Music College. Ting Yao, associate dean of the Music College, Long Fu, director of the Piano Department, all the other teachers in the Piano Department, and all students of the music college attended this lecture.

Serbian pianist Ratimir Martinovic has collaborated with more than 60 symphony orchestras and has performed more than 700 concerts in the Europe, Asia, North and South America. Since 2016, Martinovic specialized in the works of Vasilije Mokranjac, a little-known but talented South-Eastern European composer, and has performed some of his most important piano works in lecture.

This lecture is divided into two parts. The first is the lecture part. Martinovic performed some piano works of this Serbian national treasure composer Vasilije Mokranjac, and analyzed and performed some of his works to the audience.
Next was the master class, in which, three piano students from different grades were selected to participate. Yi He performed Rondo Capriccio op.14 from Mendelssohn, Bocang Hou performed Piano Sonata in E-flat major, Hob.XVI:49 from Haydn, and Ziqi Xia performed the second movement Scherzo of Piano sonata op.31 no.3 from Beethoven. Martinovic provided guidance in aspects such as finger conditions, emotional control, timbre control, and repertoire understanding.

This piano lecture and masterclasses provide not only provided students with the opportunity to appreciate the “magnificent melodies from Balkans”, but also allowed the students to understand the artistic connotation behind these famous piano music, further stimulating students’ enthusiasm for professional learning.
