The concert was mainly in charge of two students, Long Jian and Ding Yuzhen. Long Jian was the host of the project, and Ding Yuzhen was the person in charge of the concert. They invited students from different grades to perform the audio-visual feast together. Although the students come from all over the country, they all interpret their respect and love for Yangzhou folk songs in their own ways.
During the concert, the lecture hall of Yifu Library echoed with melodious melodies and soulful tunes of 12 folk songs, such as “Banqiao Daoqing”, “YangLiuqing”, “My Hometown is in Gaoyou”, “Counting duck eggs”, “Pulling roots and Luchai Flowers”. A series of classical Yangzhou folk songs are presented in a unique way, making the audience feel the unique charm of Yangzhou dialect.
After the concert, as the instructor of the project and the concert, Professor Shan Hongjian said: "The nation is the world. Today’s concert is not only a stage achievement of provincial college students' scientific innovation, but also a practical demonstration extending from the classroom to the stage, and an exploration of the mutual promotion of music performance and academic research. We still have a long way to go to integrate local music with classroom teaching, and inherit and promote our traditional music culture.”
This concert is not only an artistic enjoyment, but also a powerful practice of the inheritance and protection of dialects in Central Jiangsu. While enriching campus cultural life, it improves students’ artistic accomplishment, promotes the inheritance and protection of dialects in Central Jiangsu, and makes more people know Yangzhou dialect and its cultural value.
