Encountering Eternity: Masterclass by French Flutist Jean-Marc Goujon and Mezzo-Soprano Wu Ai
To further enhance the vocal skills and comprehensive development of the college's students, college of music held a masterclass on the afternoon of November 2nd in the Mingyue Music Hall. Renowned French flutist Jean-Marc Goujon and mezzo-soprano Wu Ai were invited to hold the masterclasses. Zhang Meilin, the founding dean of the music college; Dean Shao Ping; Vice Dean Yao Ting; Director of the Vocal Department Xia Yan; and representatives of faculty and students attend the masterclasses.

Five students from our vocal program—Wang Yihan, Jiang Yueyao, Wang Zixuan, Chen Anqi, and Chai Yingshuo—performed five Italian pieces: Di tanti palpiti, Caro nome, Torna a Surriento, Vissi d'arte, vissi d’amore, and Deh vieni alla finestra. Based on their performances, Wu Ai and Professor Goujon provided guidance on issues such as diction and blending head and chest voice. They offered practical solutions, demonstrated singing techniques, and provided detailed feedback on vocal placement and breath control.





The masterclass concluded with an atmosphere of inspiration and accomplishment. The dedication of the master instructors was met with the students' eagerness to learn. This teaching and exchange session aligns with the national policies on arts education, focusing on the development of vocal training within our college. It fostered the sharing and innovation of vocal education resources, further improving the quality of vocal education in the College of Music.
