Introduction to the full-time academic master's degree in Music and Dance

The training goal is to cultivate the all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic, and to adapt to the needs of the times. After graduation, the students can be a senior professional in music and dance teaching, education management and academic research in colleges, secondary schools and educational administrations. There are several research directions as follows:

1. Music Education: students will mainly study the history of Chinese and Western Music Education, Modern and Contemporary Music Strategies and Music Education.

2. Ethnomusicology/Anthropology of Music: students will mainly study Ethnomusicology/Music Anthropology Theory and Methods, National Music (Traditional Music), Social Pop Music, Modern and Contemporary Music Ethnography, Modern and Contemporary Music Theory and Cultural Heritage, Instrumental Music Aesthetics, Instrumental Music Theory.

4. Vocal Performance and Theory: students will mainly study Chinese and Foreign Vocal Theory (Singing Theory), Vocal Performances.

5. Instrumental Music and Theory: students mainly study Chinese and Western Instrumental Music.

6. Organology: students mainly study the catalogue, terminology, classification, structure, shape, vibration mode, resonance mode, firing method, production material, decoration, social function of the instrument, cultural function, belief, the status of the instrument performer, and training methods, symbolism and aesthetics of musical instruments.
